How to network like a chad

Hey!

Here’s a personal anecdote..

An event, a coincidence even, that changed my professional life forever…

So, I was doing some freelancing gigs on Upwork.

Not terrible, not exciting.

But…

I only managed to earn $137 :/

In 2 months…

Because I was dealing with:

Low-ballers, fierce competition and overall misery.

My rate was $10/hour…

But then…

I got accepted for what seemed a casual gig:

To translate a small ad from English to French.

I quickly did it.

And the client was FUCKING AMAZED.

So he gave me more gigs, that paid more and more…

Saying that his department was amazed by my quality

And finally going off the platform.

Long story short:

Now I get thousands of dollars just for existing.

That’s the power of 1 connection.

A connection that works for one of the biggest companies in Europe.

And in the next part of the email, I want to share how YOU can achieve the same.

If you’re getting gigs on such platforms… STOP.

It’s a waste of time and energy.

But how do you get clients, you might ask?

1. COLD. EMAIL.

2. And “warm” outreach

But here’s the thing…

People believe that cold email is spam. That isn't true... at all.

Cold emailing is a system for anything.

You can get hosted on a podcast, have your mug in a newspaper…

Heck, even talk with the 20-figure guy you thought was untouchable!

But here’s the fun part:

98% of people FUCKING SUCK at writing cold-emails.

Don’t believe me?

Check your spam folder :)

And remember my second point?

Oh yeah…

“Warm” outreach will get you far

Truth be told, 90% of people also suck ass at it.

Trying to sell in the first few lines of the conversation…

Here’s a better way:

1. Genuinely make a connection. Ask questions, share stories

2. In parallel, see if they qualify for your intended pitch (be it selling a(n) service outcome or simply asking for a favour)

3. Qualified? Awesome! No? Then you have another person in your network!

Congrats! You got the job done and didn’t act like a cunt :)
